The postpartum period is a beautiful time - but whether it’s your first baby or fourth, you probably need extra care and support during this time as you get settled with your new baby.
You can think of a postpartum doula as the person who takes care of the mom/birthing person while they take care of baby. Through your postpartum period, a doula provides physical, emotional and educational support, making sure you are empowered no matter what your experience looks like.
As your postpartum doula, I provide non-medical physical, emotional and informational support after the birth of your baby. I will help with self-care recovery, postpartum comfort measures, infant care, parenting information, aid with breastfeeding/bottle feeding, and care for your newborn. Practical support will include making sure you are hydrated and nourished, watching baby while you rest and/or shower, newborn laundry, nursery organization, simple meal prep, cleaning of bottles and/or breast pump, sibling care, pet care, general tidying, running quick errands and accompanying family to appointments. I will care for you so you are able to care for your new baby.
"Colleen was the best postpartum doula I could have ever imagined having. The help and support she provided during my postpartum period were invaluable and far exceeded any expectation that I had. Colleen quickly became one of the most, if not THE most important person in my "village". I would immediately feel a sense of relief when I would see her car pull up. Colleen is great to work with, she is very communicative, reliable, caring and has the best way of offering advice and support but without ever being intrusive. As a first time mom, she helped me feel a lot less overwhelmed during what is an extremely challenging time. I had orginally planned to only have a doula for 4-6 week but ended up working with Colleen for 12 weeks because of how incredibly helpful and supportive she was. She provided so much help from all aspects of newborn care like feeding, changing diapers, baby's bath, cutting baby's nails, how to dress and swaddle baby, tummy time, to breastfeeding and lactation support, laundry, organizing the nursery and always making sure I was fed and hydrated. It is so apparent how much Colleen cares about the family she is working with and most importantly, how much she cares for my son and how much he adores her in return."
“Colleen started helping my husband and I with our first son when he was a little over one
month. She is amazing. She’s very warm, caring and was attentive to our little one. She was great at
taking care of certain things around the house and tending to me when I needed it. If I needed someone
to talk to or just advice about something, she was always a great sounding board and researched certain
things I was unsure about. She came back with some great advice. In the beginning I gave her a list of
tasks that she would need to do weekly, and she would do them consistently and as our baby got older,
she adapted with the changes. She created a wonderful and safe bond with my son and us”.
